LIPSIA ATALANTA – Leipzig-Atalanta, one of the apparently more balanced pairings, kicks off the quarter-finals of the Europa League at 18:45.
The journey of Leipzig and Atalanta
Leipzig after being relegated from the Champions League, as third in the group consisting of City, Psg and Club Brugge, met Real Sociedad in the round of 3. A very balanced first leg while in the return thanks to the 1-3 on Spanish soil, the Germans managed to snatch the pass for the next round. That is the round of 2 against Spartak Moscow, which in reality were never played due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. So direct passage to the quarter-finals. Similar path for Gasperini’s boys: third place in the Champions League after the defeat on the last day due to the enterprising Villareal of Emery. Atalanta after having overtaken, without major difficulties, the Greeks of Olympiacos, already faced a German in the previous round: Bayer Leverkusen. After a pyrotechnic XNUMX-XNUMX at the Gewiss Stadium, in Germany a flash of Boga, in the Cesarini area, was enough to definitively close the qualification.
