Fantacalcio, the best reserve goalkeepers in Serie A

Fantasy football is more than just a game. The players spend hours and hours studying the best “shots” of the year: the common goal is to get in front of the end of the season, but as always only one will celebrate. So here are our tips on the main second and third goalkeepers to take absolutely, or at least to take into account. The door is sacred and that rare +1 – if untouched – can be the balance not only on winning or losing a day, but also an entire championship.

This year, with the group of the second round asymmetric compared to the first leg, the alternations between “the goalposts” have changed, shifting the attention of the fantamanagers on the hierarchies between first and second goalkeepers. The most popular deputy goalie is definitely David Ospina of Napoli: in this start of the season, the Colombian soon earned the title of the Neapolitan goalie, also thanks to the injury of Meret, showing immediately great protagonist in the results and deserving the trust of Spalletti. Without spending “a heresy”, the South American player represents a great luxury reserve. The Neapolitan hierarchy is completed by the 3rd Davide Marfella, a young goalkeeper born in 1999.

Perin (Juventus)

Another important name is that of Mattia Perin, second goalkeeper of Juventus behind Szczseny: the Bianconeri probably have the best second keeper of the entire league. The former Genoa will most likely find plenty of room in Serie A given the many games that await the Old Lady. His purchase is highly suggested, considering the taken-for-granted turnover that Massimiliano Allegri will face. Behind the two, remains the “usual”, and “locker room” man of Juventus, Pinsoglio.

But if you have got Pepe Reina as number one, you can’t let Strakosha get away. Even with Sarri, the Albanian goalkeeper is behind the Spaniard in the hierarchies, accomplices the latest performances not lucky for him. He is still a very good player, especially as a reserve goalkeeper for your fantasy football: interesting option yes, but without going crazy. It completes the Laziali trio Adamonis.

Sportiello (Atalanta)
Sportiello (Atalanta)

In case of need, another valuable goalkeeper is definitely Marco Sportiello from Atalanta. The Italian player, who played a good season last year, starts behind Juan Musso, who arrived in Bergamo last summer for 20 million euros. Sportiello has been the second goalkeeper of the Dea for a long time but remains one of the second most reliable second- lines of the entire Serie A. Some credit you can spend quietly for him. The Nerazzurri’s 3rd goalkeeper is Francesco Rossi, born in 1990.

If you have opted for Mike Maignan of Milan, you have to get his deputy Ciprian Tatarusanu. Given the many matches that will play the rossoneri in this season, the coach Stefano Pioli could give a little “rest” to the French. At the moment the Romanian has collected only one cap in Serie A with the jersey of the Devil, but with the return to the Champions League, could get more space: attention only to the opponent of the match. The third goalkeeper of Milan is the young Alessandro Plizzari, born in 2000.

Fantasy football, watch the hierarchies: Terraciano, Fuzato and Bardi among all

At Fiorentina, the undisputed regular is Bartolmiej Dragowski. The goalie, however, injured in the last seconds of the game loss against Napoli with lots of tears of pain, will have to stay out from 4 to 6 weeks: an opened door for the deputy Pietro Terraciano. He will be the Italian goalkeeper to defend the Viola goalposts against Venezia, Cagliari, Lazio, Spezia and Juventus. The second goalkeeper will start again with the nickname of San Pietro, given by the fans due to the various interventions made in his last appearance against Atalanta: a performance that seemed to have brought him above Dragowski in the hierarchy of Italiano. The third one is Daniele Rosati.

Terracciano (Fiorentina)

Another second goalkeeper could be Daniel Fuzato from Roma. In the summer, the Giallorossi picked up a new number one, Rui Patricio, to defend the posts after several unsuccessful seasons. Immediately behind the former Wolverhampton there is the Brazilian class of ’97, great protagonist and starter in the final of last season. Given the different competitions in which Roma participate – Serie A, Coppa Italia, Conference League -, it is not excluded that Josè Mourinho can opt for turnover. The young Fuzato is certainly a good goalkeeper in perspective but he is not yet ready for the Giallorossi title, thanks to the excellent performances of Rui Patricio at this start of the season. In case you have taken the Portuguese, you can still take his second goalie. Eventually, the third goalkeeper at the moment is Boer.

Look also at Bologna for the second goalkeeper of your fantasy football. For Sinisa Mihajilovic, the first goalkeeper is still Skorupski, but given his ups and downs, sometimes it could be his second Bardi, already used several times in the friendly pre-season. The Rossoblù are suffering many goals in this first part of the season, who knows that the former Inter keeper cannot reverse the trend if called into question. To conclude the squad of goalkeepers of Bologna is Mouhamadou Sarr, a young Senegalese class of ’97.

Radu (Inter)
Radu (Inter)

The bets could be on Radu of Inter and Berisha of Torino. The first one remained in the Nerazzurri despite the many rumors that considered him away from Milan, but he will hardly play an important role in the team. Only the turnover decided by Simone Inzaghi could give him some room, but it is really difficult to remove Samir Handanovic, even just for one game. The second goalkeeper of Granata instead remains a real unknown for the world of fantasy football: closed in the hierarchy by Milinkovic-Savic, in the Albanian national team the player is an unstoppable regular. Who knows that Juric would not opt for a bit of turnover in consideration of the many close commitments in November.

It is true that often, the difference can be just the second and third goalkeepers, called in action for different reasons and able to affect a lot to the final result. But it’s also true that having an excellent number One can help you to avoid bad surprises during the season. It is, therefore, better to opt for a great “extreme defender” and, if necessary, protect yourself with a decent second goalie: to do this it is essential to understand well the hierarchies of each individual team, to be sure if you take the appropriate replacement.
