After the twenty-seventh day of Serie A, the protagonist of our column “The Poet of the week” can only be Giovanni Simeone. The center forward ofGreece Verona On Sunday he scored a hat-trick against Venezia: all three goals were scored in the second half and are all of fine workmanship. In the first Simeone wins the duel with Caldara and on the right he slips Lezzerini, in the second it exploits the passage of Pharaohs and kicks first with his left foot and in the third he finalizes the counterattack led by Lasagna.
The Argentine striker with this hat-trick broke a fast by ben 8 races: did not score in fact from the match of 12 December against Atalanta. About two and a half months after the cholito goes wild with a Hat trick.
With the three goals against Venice, Simeone has broken several records. First it came to 15 goals in this league, which is his best score in a season. He is also the Argentine player who has scored the most goals in the five major European leagues. Another curiosity: the cholito he is the first to score a multiple mark in both the first leg and the return match against a single opponent in this Serie A (he had scored twice in Venice). And, as if that were not enough, he is also the first player in the history of Hellas Verona to have scored three or more goals in two different matches of the same Serie A championship (in addition to Sunday’s hat-trick, Simeone signed a four-of-a-kind against Lazio at October).
The bomber born in ’95 is certainly in his best career season. In Verona with Tudor he found a way to express himself at his best. He has never lacked his character and stubbornness, as well as his hunger for goals. He is also finding that continuity in the construction phase that he lacked a little in the past. If he continues like this, he can surely find a place in the too national albiceleste, where he has so far collected very few tokens. Competition up front in theArgentina it’s a lot, but Simeone has all the credentials to have his say even among the “great”.
