The protagonist of our column “The Poet of the Week” after the thirty-fifth matchday of Serie A is the striker of Turin Andrea Belotti. The Cock Sunday to Empoli entered at 71 ‘and made one triplet (two goals from a penalty and one from a slide in the area). Both penalties were masterfully kicked by the grenade captain, who once again confirms himself as a great shooter from the spot.
In Empoli Andrea Belotti made his fourth hat-trick in Serie A. The others had scored against the Bologna in 2016, with the Palermo (his former team) in 2017 and col Crotone in 2018.
The goals scored at Castellani they mean a lot to Belotti. Thanks to these goals, in fact, the center forward born in ’93 has entered the history of Turin, reaching altitude 100 goals in Serie A with the grenade shirt (63 from the right, 21 from the left, 16 from the head and 25 from a penalty kick). The Rooster has thus passed Ciccio Graziani (97), becoming the second best scorer of Taurus. In the first place there is Paolo Pulici at 134 goals.
Belotti’s season was not the best: injuries made him miss several matches. But despite this, Belotti has scored in this championship 8 centers in 19 appearances (a goal every 143 minutes) and is one step away from another record. If in the next three races (against Napoli, Verona e Roma) will manage to score two more goals, will go in double figures for the seventh consecutive year, reaching Pulici himself, who made this goal from 1972/1973 to 1978/1979.
For Turin, Gallo is now a flag, but his contract with the grenade club expires in June. The club has shown that they want to continue the adventure with their captain, but the player has always been a bit skeptical. But after the match in Empoli the situation seems to have changed. At the end of the game Belotti declared that something beautiful is being born in Turin and to be great with Juric. Surely the record for goals in Serie A with the grenade shirt is a very important goal that can stimulate him to stay. The Rooster and the Bull have built a lot over the years and it would be nice to see them together in the future too.
